In the wake of the tragic death of Jai, a beloved stray dog brutally beaten in Andheri Lokhandwala, Paws Hunger joined animal lovers, celebrities, and citizens in demanding justice. The incident sparked widespread outrage and reminded us why our workโ€”to protect and speak up for the voicelessโ€”is more urgent than ever.

“We had participants from across the state who came together to show their respect and fight for justice. PPA India & Paws hunger also has a petition signed by everyone who attended demanding stricter laws to be made in the Parliament. This will be the beginning of justice not only for Jai, but every animal in India,โ€ said Sarthak Moudgil, founder of Paws Hunger.

Following the horrific killing of Jai, a friendly stray dog in Mumbai, Paws Hunger stood in solidarity with thousands calling for stronger animal protection laws. The incident became a catalyst for a renewed push to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, a decades-old law in urgent need of reform.

As quoted in Hindustan Times, the movement transcended local griefโ€”uniting animal lovers, NGOs, and civic voices across India:

โ€œTo start with, such heinous crimes should be made a non-bailable offence. It is only the immediate threat of jail that will deter people. As attention on the incident wanes, and the trial takes its own time, there is a chance the accused might get away with it lightly.โ€ said Sarthak Moudgil, founder of Paws Hunger.
